To eat out is really a pleasure experience you can eat out and also can eat healthy. Nowadays there are many restaurants that offer mouth-watering meals that are low in calorie with saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol. High blood cholesterol is a major risk factor for heart disease, and it's also a risk factor for stroke. in the present scenario people are getting more and more conscious towards their health and usually avoid food that are rich in fat and carbohydrate thereby eating less and less while out of home.

The reason behind this is that they usually feel that they will have to consider on their daily healthy eating habit and will have to break it by in taking foods with high level of calories. Other reason is that we often feel shy while making special requests while eating out as usually it is not possible to get our demand fulfilled.

One should not feel shy while making special requests while eating out. There are many food on most menus which can certainly fit into a heart-healthy diet if those are cooked with low-fat ingredients and less salt. While eating out especially while eating in a good restaurant you can ask the person serving if the kitchen can alter preparations to meet your needs. You can also make a call ahead before you choose your restaurant. If your food is not required the way you requested you can also take your order back. Next important thing about your food is the portion size. You can help in managing your weight by asking for smaller portions by sharing your entrees with a companion, or putting half of your meal in a to-go box to enjoy another time.

Tips for Eating Healthy when Eating Out

Avoid eating such foods as crispy, fried, au gratin, pan-fried, escalloped, sauted or stuffed foods because they are generally they contain high level of fat and calories. Hence avoid these foods and instead, look for steamed food items or broiled, baked, grilled, poached or roasted foods. If you are not sure about a certain dish you can also ask the person serving about the preparation method. You can request that visible fat be trimmed from meat and skin be removed from poultry before cooking.

You can also send your request that your meal be prepared with vegetable oil and should be made from canola, olive, corn, soy, sunflower or safflower or soft margarine and not with butter. Ask for soft margarine for your bread.

The high-sodium food should also be avoided. These food include those that are preserved, smoked, in cocktail sauce. You can also limit these items requesting that your food be prepared without added salt or MSG.

Try to avoid gravy, sauces and dressings served on the other side of the table, so that you can control the amount you eat or skip them completely.

You can also request if the restaurant has fat-free or 1 percent milk in place of whole milk.
